HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

A face-to-face meeting is the best way for us to get to know each other, and in our first meeting, we will be listening to your ideas and looking at any architectural drawings, blueprints or photos you may have. (These photos can be from design magazines, Houzz or pinterest.) We really want to know your hopes and dreams for this design project.

WHAT WILL YOUR SERVICES COST?

Our design fee is based on the square footage of your project, the scope of work involved, and the location of your project. This fee represents a reasonable assessment of the time, materials and resources it will take to professionally complete your job, and it assures you that Designing Spaces MB. will complete your project – on time and on budget.

The scope of work and our design fee is defined and detailed in a document called a Letter of Agreement, which spells out the agreement between you, the client, and Designing Spaces MB.

DO YOU WORK WITH OTHER TRADE PROFESSIONALS?

We work in harmony with architects, general contractors and landscape designers, among others. This collaboration, which is called the “design/build process,” is a very cost effective way to create your “dream project”, and we encourage you to meet with us and consider this process before committing designs and ideas to paper.

HOW LONG DOES THE DESIGN PROCESS TAKE?

The initial research and development phase varies according to the complexity of the job; however, in most cases you will see a preliminary presentation in three weeks. A shopping trip with the client is usually included to scope out products and accessories the homeowner likes and dislikes so we are all on the same page. A preliminary presentation is then scheduled where we present our design concept, basic drawings, color scheme, key fabrics and furnishings, and initial budget.

The final design phase is presented as soon as you have made your decision. This will include all the working drawings, tear sheets of all the furnishings, memos of all the fabrics as well as the final budget, which will have all the costs, item by item, on everything you’ll need to complete your dream project.

HOW INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS DO I NEED TO BE?

You may be involved as little or as much as you like. We enjoy and encourage your participation.

HOW DOES PURCHASING WORK?

Your completed design project includes a detailed budget. You choose what pieces you want to order, and then we create a proposal that details those items and prices.

After you approve and sign the proposal, and return it with your deposit check, we will order your selections and provide you with delivery timelines. Purchasing contracting services (installation of tile, cabinets, lighting, etc. ) works the same way.

DO YOU WORK OUTSIDE OF WINNIPEG?

Yes we do! There will be a small per kilometer fee after 10 km outside the city limits however. Travel outside of Manitoba will need to be negotiated.
